With over 700 athletes and 20 clubs competing in the WMYACCL series of cross country races on a bright warm day the scene was set for some highly competitive running |
In the first race of the day which was the Under 17 Women TAC had 3 athletes. Rebecca Brayer showing her usual consistency came 9th followed by the hard working Charlottes Bush in 11th place. Bush and her team mate Emily Findlater making the most of their first race in the older age group. Findlater finished in 43rd place adding valuable points to the team score. As a team they finished in a good 7th place. The Under 11 boys were next with new athletes competing for the first time. Toby Wooton had a remarkable run finishing in 8th place and team mates Oliver Aston and Jacob Williams earning valuable team points by coming 70th and 4th respectively. The boys came 12th in the team competition. |
The TAC under 17 men gave a strong performance with only four athletes running still managed to finish in 6th place in the team competition. James Oakley came in at 18th with a solid run, Bradley Hammond returning from injury was 26th, Andrew Woods ran well finishing in 36th place and Tom Holloway finished in 45th place for Tamworth |
Next to run were the Under 11 girls who had eight athletes running. As only the first five score in the team competition e had a good chance of earning a strong league position. The first five finished in the top sixty runners which earned them a strong 7th place in the team competition. Saoirse Au came 22nd, Connie Allen was 34th, Daisy Smith was 46th followed by Natasha Lee in 37th . Freya Cole the last valuable point scorer came 60th. Angelica Rakmee kept going to finish in 63rd place just out of the points and newcomers Kirsten McClaren and Eleanor Corpe came 76th and 100th respectively. |
The Under 15 Boys had four athletes running and in spite of this they finished a brilliant 6th in the team competition. Max Kent had a first class run finishing in 9th place, James Sherriff was not far behind in 18th place, James Walker and Finlay Cross earned valuable points in 42nd and 52nd place respectively. |
The Under 13 Girls team had three athletes. Abi Hamer finished in a very strong 7th place. Emily Pearce and Ellie Gauntlett both gave their all to finish in 48th and 67th place respectively. |
The Under 13 Boys had a very strong team of eight runners, with the first five runners finishing in the first fifty the boys were assured of a good league position coming 4th. Strong runs from James Stretton 16th, Ben Edwards 26th, Harry Chesterton 28th, Oran Au 34th and Kai Buckley 44th was an impressive sight. Team members Daniel Aston, Caydon Fairburn and Kian Dickson came 60th, 86th and 89th respectively. |
The Under 15 Girls ran with a team of five, which meant that they all had scoring roles. The good effort from the whole team meant that they came 6th in the team competition. Eve Clawley returning from a summer of injury coasted home to finish 5th. Charlotte Perry and Sophie Perry ran with maximum effort to finish 32nd and 51st respectively. Sian Lewis and Katie Stretton finished 58th and 68th earning valuable points.
