Midland Senior League – 19/08

Tamworth AC had the last match of the season at the home of Birchfield Athletics club at the Alexander Stadium Birmingham on Saturday 19th August against teams from Yate, Cheltenham, Birchfield, Telford and Coventry. The match was important as Tamworth needed to do well to stay in the Division 2. We were able to put out the biggest team of the season and the results came flooding in with plenty of PBs all round.

Alex Berrow started the day with the Hammer throw of 46.39m. He then went on to claim 1st in the Shot with a throw of 12.11m, the Javelin with a throw of 28.76m and the Discus 23.87m.

Christian Bruss threw the Hammer 14.37m and then did the long jump with a jump of 3.18m

Greg Richards also started the day with a Hammer throw of 12.93 then went on to throw the Javelin 40.11m and the Discus 19.55m and the Shot 5.97m… Greg then went out to run a 200m in the time of 27.64s

Matt Hargreaves who is one of TACs coaches took his turn too with a throw of the Shot 5.58m and the Discus throw 15.65m.

Will Fleming went in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.19m and the triple jump 10.16m. Will then came 1st in the 400m C race with a time of 53.42s which was also a PB.

Tom Ainsworth started his day in the 800m A race coming in 2nd with a PB time 1.51.80, he then went to get a second PB of the day in 400m A race with a time of 48.30s and later on did the 100m with a time 11.55s.

Peter Hackett started his day in the 800m B race coming 1st with a Pb time of 1.59.56 and later in the day ran another PB in the 3000m coming 2nd with a time of 9.08.25.

John Jenkins coming back from injury ran the 200m with a time of 25.34 and the 100m with a time of 12.85.

Max Kent ran the 3000m steeplechase coming in 1st with a PB time of 11.11.62 and then went onto run the 1500m with a time of 4.49.02.

Tom Randolph who was home for the weekend joined us and ran the Brace of the 400m getting a PB time of 47.10s.

Father and Son team of Ulvis and Reinus Baltins both ran the 1500m with times of 4.54.93 and 4.22.22 respectively, both achieving PBs.

Dale Langley ran the 3000m in a time of 10.39.76.

The girls started the afternoon off with:

Niamh Kilgallen in the Long Jump with 5.07m the Shot with a Throw of 9.16m and the discus coming 2nd with a throw of 23.83 and the High Jump 1.50m.

Jessica Salt one of our younger members of the team jumped 4.05m in the Long Jump threw the 5.82m and then came 1st in the B race of the 1500m with a time of 5.02.32.

Sarah Williams did the Pole Vault with a vault of 2.50m.

Rebecca Hobbs our busiest athlete of the day started with the 400m Hurdles in a time of 94.40, then went onto throw the Javelin 12.68m and the Discus 12.56m. She then ran a 400m in the C race coming 2nd with a time of 73.99, the 100m with a time of 16.94 and coming 2nd in the 3000m with a time of 11.53.43.

Lottie McLaren came 1st in both her races of the day starting with a PB in the 800m with a time of 2.14.27 and then ran the 1500 with a time 4.48.77.

Kat Snowden started her day in 800m with a seasons best time of 2.20.61 then ran a PB in the 200m with a time of 29.02 she then ran in the B race 400m with a time of 62.43 and finished the afternoon in the 100m with a time of 14.47.

Evie Caffrey another of our youngsters started her day in the C race of the 800m with a time of 2.37.66 coming 1st and again in the C race of the 1500m coming 1st with a time of 5.36.28.

Jessica Kilgallen did the High Jump at 1.25m and ran in the 200m with a time of 32.59.

Isabelle Neville, also home for the weekend, ran in the A race 400m coming 3rd with a PB of 58.05s.

Abby Halcaez ran the 3000m with a time of 10.26.42 coming in 2nd and last but not least our newest member of the team and new to the club Georgia Sillion came 1st in the C race of the 3000m with a time of 13.33.20.

We finished our afternoon off with the relays the 4x 100 relay teams the mens team of Tom Ainsworth, John Jenkins, Christian Bruss and Will Fleming finished with a time of 55.81 and the ladies team of Jessica Kilgallen, Lottie Mclaren, Rebecca Hobbs and Isabelle Neville came in with a time of 59.91.

The most exciting races of the day came in the 4 x 400m relays starting with the ladies team of Evie Caffrey, Isabelle Neville, Kat Snowden and Lottie McLaren came in 2nd with a time of 4.12.48 and then the men’s team of Will Fleming, Tom Ainsworth, Pete Hackett and Tom Randolph running the anchor leg fighting off tough competition with Telford came in 2nd with a time of 3.27.04.

Tamworth finished off the season 4th in the league and securing their position again in Division 2 for next season.
