Thanks to all the athletes who attended the Upper Age Group match at Loughborough, where Tamworth finished 7th out of 8 teams despite reduced numbers. Great work for those who competed and some top-notch performances. Thanks to Rob James, Deb Cash, Fiona Meldrum, Alistair Fleming & Lorraine Godber for officiating, and Sophie Godber for general all round support and camaraderie.
All the results for the athletes are shown below, along with any England Athletics PB Award levels reached.
U17/U20 Men
| Ben Godber | A usual varied day for Ben started with High Jump where he matched his PB of 1.45m for 3rd place and a Level 2 performance. He then went onto make his Triple Jump debut finishing in 4th place with a best of 8.95m, and finished with 6th place in 800m with a time of 2:32.0 in a tough race. |
| Will Fleming | Both track and field for Will who started with 4th place in the Long Jump with a distance of 4.86m. He went onto race in the 400m with a strong start and another 4th place in a time of 55.7s with a Level 4 rating. |
U17/U20 Women
| Chloe Purkiss | Unfortunate timetabling meant that Chloe could only pick one event to compete in out of her preferred options. She made good use of that selection by clearing 1.40m in the high jump for 2nd place, a Level 5 performance and a new PB. She then joined the 4x100m team who took 3rd place. |
| Evie Caffrey | A busy day for Evie who started with a strong PB in the shot put for 7th place with 6.31m. She then ran the A string 300m to take 2nd place in 48.1s (Level 3) and moved onto the 1500m where she took 3rd with a time of 5:34.8 (Level 2), and finally running in the 4x100m. |
| Jess Kilgallen | Another busy competitor was Jess who started off with a PB in the Long Jump of 3.23m for 4th place. After an unlucky high jump, Jess moved onto the track and took 3rd place with a time of 3:01.1 taking 7 seconds off her previous PB! She finished the day in the 4x100m team. |
| Stefi Honkowicz | An excellent day for Stefi who ran the 300m B string for 1st place in a time of 49.8s (Level 2) and a PB over the distance. Her next event was the 3000m where she ran very impressively without any real competition to win in a time of 10:32.9 (Level 8 performance) which took 19 seconds off her previous best, and 11 seconds off the Tamworth AC record. This also puts her ranked 35 in the UK for Under 17 3000m at the moment. She finished her day with a first competitive triple jump taking 2nd place with a jump of 7.43m. |
| Niamh Kilgallen | Older sister Niamh followed Jess around the stadium for the most events, and had her usual high-scoring day. Niamh took first place in the long jump with a distance of 5.20m (Level 6) and a new PB. She moved onto the High Jump with a clearance of 1.60m for 2nd place despite back pain which was a Level 8 performance. She went onto anchor the 4x100m relay for 3rd place. |
