Staffordshire and Warwickshire County Championships – 13/05 & 14/05

Over the weekend of May 13th and 14th many of the athletes from Tamworth AC competed at the Staffordshire County Championships and Warwickshire County Championships. Many of the athletes came home with Gold medals achieving county champion status. Among those with gold medals at the Staffordshire Championships were: 

Tom Ainsworth claimed a Gold medal at senior men’s 800m with a PB of 1.54.00 and then went onto compete in the senior men’s 400m race and collected a silver medal with a time of 49.8secs.

Lottie McLaren claimed a gold medal Gold medal in the U20 women’s 800m with a PB of 2.16.60.

Jessica Salt claimed a Gold medal in the U17 1500m with a time of 4.56.60. She also got Gold in the long jump with a PB of 4.16m and a PB in the shot with a distance of 6.53m.

Sophie Godber got a Gold medal in the U15 75m hurdles with a time of 13.6 and also made it into the final of the U15 100m.

Isla Rogers took Gold in the U15 javelin with a throw of 28.45m which was also a PB.

Grace Young got through to U15 100m semi final and the 200m final coming in 5th.

Ben Godber came home with a silver medal in the U17m high jump with 1m 45cm and then came 3rd in the U17m 800m.

Zac Edwards got a PB in the 1500m 5.01.30.

Robyn Edwards ran the U13 800m with a time of 2.50.60.

Freddie Burgess also ran in the U13 1500m and claimed a PB 5.17.66.

Alex Hall also ran a PB in the U13 1500m with a time of 5.13.20.

Competing at the Warwickshire County Championships held at the Pingles Stadium in Nuneaton, Tamworth Athlete Isabelle Neville competed in the senior women’s 800m winning Gold with a time 2.23.31 a PB and a new event. She then went on to compete in the 400m senior women’s race winning Gold with a time of 60.41.

Also competing we had William Fleming in the U20 men’s 400m with a time 54.67.

Evie Caffrey a relatively new athlete competing for Tamworth AC in the U17 1500m achieving a PB with a time of 5.27.60.

Lucy Hornby another new athlete to TAC competed in the U15 800m with a PB of 2.45.00 and then went onto another PB in the 1500m with a time of 5.45.26.

Emily Stephens competed in the U15 200m with a time of 29.05 and then went onto compete in 100m with a time of 13.58 narrowly missing out on the final.

Lottie O’Donoghue competed in the U15 100m with a time of 13.89.

William Upton competed in the U15 800m with a time of 2.41.22.  

This has been the most Gold medals Tamworth Athletes have come home with for a few years. Good Luck to all these athletes for the rest of the season!
