Chairman’s Message: 13 May 2020

Firstly, and most importantly I hope that you are all keeping safe and well during these challenging times. I understand how difficult things are for everybody and the absence of athletics in our lives only adds to the frustrations.

As you will have seen, some of the guidance from Government has changed this week; particularly around the restrictions on exercise that have been in place over the last couple of months. England Athletics is however continuing the suspension of all athletics activities until at least the end of May and of licenced competitions until at least the end of June. How and when these restrictions should be lifted is currently under review and you can see the latest EA statement here.

As we have said previously, the club will remain closed until at least the end of May with access to the stadium limited to essential maintenance and emergencies only. We will continue to monitor the evolving situation and all future guidance issued by England Athletics, and keep you updated on our plans for reopening. I am firmly committed to resuming athletics at our club as soon as possible, but only at a time and in a way that protects the wellbeing of athletes, coaches, officials and visitors.

I assure you that we will do everything we can to put the right measures in place that maintain the highest standards of health & safety and give club members fair priority access to our facilities and equipment.

I am extremely grateful for your understanding, patience and continued support of the club.

Yours in Sport

Paul Tasker

Chairman, Tamworth Athletics Club
