I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and thank all our athletes, parents, volunteers and supporters of the club for making 2019 so special.
We really have had a great year, with our Senior Team keeping their place in Division One of the Midland Track & Field League for yet another season. A superb effort from all our athletes and Rob James and Liz Neville as Team Managers who also juggled the management duties for our UK Youth Development League upper age group team. Rob has work tirelessly to manage our league paperwork and as membership secretary; a vital cog in the Tamworth AC machine!
We also did well and held our division status in the lower age groups of the UK YDL, with Hayley McLaren and Dom Middleton doing a grand job of the Team Manager duties.
Matt Evans steered our juniors to promotion from Division 4 in the Heart of England League; with our Under-17s putting in a sterling performance in the final match in front of a home crowd at the Tamworth Stadium.
Still showing our youngsters how it’s done, Howard Bush led the Veterans team for his first season. Despite us always struggling for numbers, there were some cracking individual results across the age groups.
On into the winter months and our Senior Men’s team, led by Andy Wright, are well on their way to promotion back into Division 2 of the Birmingham Cross Country League. We all look forward to cheering them on in their final push in the New Year! Our Women’s cross country team is also doing well, holding their own and currently in 9th place in the Midlands League.
Ben Evans’ juniors have produced some superb results in the West Midlands Young Athletes Cross Country League and the National Relays at Berry Hill Park in November. The fantastic support from the parents and our coaches has made us a force to be reckoned with!
So, here’s looking forward to another successful year in 2020. Keep up the great work and your continued support is always so very much appreciated!
