Worthington 5 Mile, 09 July 2019

Following a hectic weekend of fixtures, the Tamworth AC team for the Worthington 5 Mile was reduced to the duo of Dale Langley and Derek Bolton on a warm Tuesday night. The race, that consists mostly of rural footpaths, was the sixth event in the Burton and District Summer League.

Dale Langley has been putting in some solid performances since his London Marathon debut in April and he did well again to finish in 8th place amongst a strong field of runners; crossing the finish line at the Malt Shovel with a time of 29:51.

Club Chairman Derek Bolton put in another solid run to finish 4th in the Men’s 55-59 category with a time of 35:18.

The race was won with a comfortable margin and time of 26:18 by Lloyd Biddell of Mercian Fell Runners.

Next in the Burton and District Summer League will be the Burton 10k on Sunday 11th August before the final race of the series, the Tamworth 5 Mile, on Sunday 15th September.
