Home Nations Masters International, Great Birmingham 10k, Sunday 26 May 2019

Ben Evans switched his usual Tamworth AC colours for an England Masters vest at the Great Birmingham 10k on Sunday. Running in the Men’s 40 category, Ben joined a strong England team to face a combined Celtic Nations team, with ages ranging from 35 to over 80.

The recent good weather turned to rain on the day making the early parts of the course through the city centre a little slippery underfoot, before making an undulating out and back to Perry Barr and finishing at Aston University.

Ben finished the race with a decent time for the course and conditions; clocking 35:55 and ranking 10th place in the Men’s 40-44 category, 54th overall in a field of nearly seven thousand.

Continuing a demanding run of races in quick succession, Ben will be straight back into action at the Hull Half Marathon on Sunday 2nd June. He will again join the England Masters team for the Home Nations Marathon at York in October.
