The third race of the Burton and District Summer League saw a small but committed team of athletes from Tamworth AC take part in the annual Burton 10 Mile event.
Defending champion Ben Evans was first back for Tamworth, crossing the line amongst a very strong field; this time in 11th place with a time of 1:00:26. The performance, whilst some way from his best, was enough to claim first place in the Men’s 40-44 category and win the Midlands Masters M40 Championship.

Derek Bolton was next with a time of 1:10:41, also winning his Men’s 55-59 age category and Lisa Stretton took 2nd place in the Women’s 45-49 category with a time of 1:17:27.

The Michael Kelsall Fun Run saw two of Tamworth AC’s bright young stars taking on the 2-mile race. James Stretton took the honours for Tamworth, winning the race by an enormous margin with a time of 10:33. William Newman followed in 9th place with a time of 13:49.

The next Burton and District Summer League event will be the Washlands Relays in Burton on Wednesday 12th June.
