Tamworth AC returned to the Tipton Sports Academy for the second consecutive weekend, this time for the Under-17 and Under-20 athletes to compete in the UK Youth Development League Upper Age Group.
For the Under-20 Men, Jacob Spencer took 2nd place in the 100 metres by the tightest of margins; clocking the same time of 11.1secs as the winner. Max Kent took on both the 3,000 metres, clocking 10:05.1 and then the 2,000 metres Steeplechase, crossing the line on 10:05.1.
On the field, Daniel Cartwright threw 6.35 metres in the Shot and 19.43 metres in the Discus. In the Javelin, Max Kent threw 17.83 metres in the A-event, with Daniel Cartwright taking 2nd place in the B-event.
The 4 x 400 metre relay was won in style by a Tamworth team of Jacob Spencer, James Rachel, Max Kent and Curtis Lawrence, clocking a combined time of 3:50.6.

Lucy Wheeler took 3rd place in the Under-20 Women’s 100 metres A-race with a time of 13.2secs and Bethany Devonshire won the B-race with 13.9secs. Eve Clawley finished 3rd in the 200 metres with 27.4secs and then won the 400 metres A-race with 60.7secs. Emily Findlater also won her 400 metres B-race with a time of 62.2secs before she and Bethany Devonshire both clocked 20.3secs in the 100 metres Hurdles. The 400 metres Hurdles then saw Emily finish in 73.4secs for the A-race and Bethany in 79.80secs for the B-race.
Eve Clawley jumped 8.30m in the Triple Jump and Lucy Wheeler won both the Shot with a throw of 8.61 metres and the Discus with 18.42 metres.
Like their male counterparts, the Tamworth Under-20 Women again did well in the relays. In the 4 x 100 metres Emily Findlater, Bethany Ostick, Bethany Devonshire and Eve Clawley took 2nd place with a time of 53.50secs. The team then went on to win the 4 x 400 metres with a time of 4:19.3; Emily Findlater, Bethany Devonshire, Eve Clawley and Sian Lewis making up the victorious quartet.

On to the Under-17 Men and Curtis Lawrence ran a time of 12.6secs in the 100 metres A-race. Jack Walklate clocked 13.8 in the B-race and also ran 28.8 in the 200 metres B-race. James Rachel won both the 200 and 400 metres A-races with times of 24.3secs and 51.4secs respectively. In the 800 metres, James Sheriff won the A-race with a time of 2:02.1. Ben Edwards clocked 2:22.3 for 2nd in the B-race and 4:42.2 in the 1,500 metres; again taking 2nd place.
Curtis Lawrence jumped 9.48 metres in the Triple Jump and threw the Javelin 22.94 metres. In the Discus, Ben Edwards threw 17.49 metres.

For the Under-17 Women, Bethany Ostick took 3rd place in both the 100 metres with 13.5secs and 200 metres A-race with 28.1secs. Isobel Wattis won the 200 metres B-race with a time of 29.5secs and clocked 45.9secs in the 300 metres. In the 800 metres, Sian Lewis took 3rd place in the A-race with a time of 2:31.3 and Sophie Perry won the B-race with 2:39.3. Sister Charlotte Perry finished the 1,500 metres in 3rd place with a time of 5:27.1. In the 300m Hurdles, Sophie Parsley was narrowly beaten into 2nd place with a time of 49.6secs.
Over on the field Bethany Ostick jumped her way into 2nd place with 4.45 metres in the Long Jump. Isla Crameri jumped 9.78 metres in the Triple Jump and cleared 2.90 metres in the Pole Vault. Amy Cook cleared 2.70 metres in the Pole Vault and threw 8.34 metres in the Shot Put. Hannah Evans threw the Discus 21.58 metres for 3rd place and then took 2nd place in both the Hammer Throw A-event and Javelin B-event. Amy Cook threw 34.22 metres in the Javelin A-event.
Finally, the Tamworth team of Sophie and Charlotte Perry, Isla Crameri and Isobel Wattis finished the 4 x 300 metres relay in a time of 3:19.4.

The Upper Age Group team will next be in YDL action on Sunday 26th May at the Shobnall Leisure Complex in Burton. The Lower Age Group team will be at Leamington on Saturday 18th May.
