Announcement Tamworth AC Chairman

At our AGM on Monday 25th February, Dave Williams stepped down as Chairman of the club after 10 years at the helm. Everybody at the club would all like to express their sincerest thanks and gratitude to Dave for his hard work and commitment during his tenure. This is however not a time for goodbyes as Dave will now take up the role of Treasurer and will no doubt continue to play a very active role at our club.
At the AGM Dave reflected on the last decade and said “I have reached the end of 2018 and completed 10 years as club chairman. There have been many occasions when I have been proud of Tamworth AC, its athletes and volunteers. I have learned many things and it has given me some great experiences I will never forget. I have been proud to stand alongside you whether training, spectating, coaching, organising or just having a drink! Thank you!”
The Committee was unanimous in nominating Derek Bolton to be our new Chairman. We congratulate Derek on his appointment and have no doubt that he will fulfil his new duties with the dedication, good humour and love for the club that we have all come to admire. Paul Tasker will continue his good work as Vice Chairman.
Derek, looking forwards to the future, said “May I firstly thank Dave Williams for his excellent tenure of Chairman that will always be a hard act to follow.
As always there are challenges presented to any new chair. Firstly, to continue the vision set out in ensuring the security of the club, in providing an inclusive premier athletics facility for Tamworth and the surrounding area.
Secondly, to encourage support to athletes across the age and ability range, so that they have the opportunity to develop, complete and represent the club at all levels.
Finally, to secure the club’s future by looking at initiatives to attract funding so we are able to maintain and improve the facilities.
This is a timely reminder that we are one of the few facilities in the UK that are not council run, any of the above can only be achieved by those crossing our threshold and paying membership.
It is YOUR club, YOU have a say. Please support it in whatever way you can as we would rather have many hands dealing with few jobs, than a few hands dealing with many jobs”
