Staffordshire County Championships at Aldersley Stadium Wolverhampton 12 May 18

On a warm day, perfect for track and field Tamworth AC athletes had a highly successful day competing against the best athletes in the County finishing with several Gold Championship medals.

Daniel Cartwright finished 2nd in heat 2 of the under 17 men’s 100m he then went on to take the gold medal in final with a new personal best of 10.9secs.

Lucy Wheeler came 1st in heat 2 of the under 17 women’s 100m with a seasons best time of 12.7secs. In the final she was narrowly beaten into 2nd place repeating her time in heat 2. She also made 2nd place in the shot with a personal best throw of 9.74m

Isabelle Neville took the Gold Medal in the under 20 women’s 400m hurdles with a season’s best time of 64.2secs and logging a Championship best time. In the 200m under 20 women’s race she took 3rd place with a personal best time of 25.8secs.

11 year old Lottie McLaren won her heat of the under 13 girls 200m race with a personal best time of 29.4secs and went on to beat her time in the final coming 2nd with a personal best time of 29.0secs. In the 800m she also excelled coming 2nd with another personal best time of 2mins 26.5secs breaking the Tamworth AC 800m U13G club record.

Eve Clawley became a double Staffs Champion taking Gold in the 300m under 17 women’s race  with a personal best time of 41.8secs and a 2nd Gold Medal in the 800m under17 women’s race which she won in 2mins 24.9secs.

Tom Ainsworth took 1st place in heat 1 of the 400m senior men’s race with a season’s best time of 51.0secs. He went on to take 4th place in the final.

Andrew Woods clocked a personal best in the 400m under 20 men’s final with a 2nd place in a time of 54.7secs.

In her heat of the 800m under 15 girls race Abi Hamer came 1st with a time of 2mins 32.6secs. In the final she came 2nd with a personal best of 2mins 25.8secs.

In heat 1 of the 800m under 15 girls race Libbie Price made a personal best time of 2mins 41.1secs and went on to improve her time in the final with another personal best of 2mins 40.6secs.

Niamh Kilgallen won the Gold Medal in the under 15 girls 75m hurdles race with a time of 12.3secs and she won another Gold medal in the High Jump with a jump of 1.4m. In the Long Jump she jumped 4.35m taking 3rd place.

Siân Hubbard was another Gold Medal winner with the winning jump in the pole vault of 2.6m also setting a new Championship record.

In the 1500m under 15 race Ben Edwards came 4th with a personal best run of 4mins 46.8secs

Alice Jones secured a personal best in the Hammer under 17 women with a throw of 33.55m finishing in 3rd place and in the Shot she finished 4th with a season’s best throw of 9.19m

Alex Berrow in the senior men’s competition became a double Gold Medal winner with a seasons best throw of 11.21m in the shot and another seasons best of 48.08m in the Hammer.
