On a busy weekend of fixtures, only Ben Evans and Derek Bolton made the trip up to Uttoxeter Racecourse to represent Tamworth AC in the second race of the Burton and District Summer League series.
The hilly course of the Uttoxeter Half Marathon was made all the more challenging by the hot and humid weather, causing a number of runners to struggle with conditions on the day.
Ben Evans continued his great start to the season, putting in another strong performance to finish in second place with a time of 1:18:34; beating a second Vet 40 club record in as many months.
Derek Bolton, a regular and familiar face at the event, came home in 1:44:14 to finish off a good day out for the Tamworth Two!
Ben said “Finishing times mean nothing today, it was all about adapting to the conditions and getting around in one piece. I’m pleased with the way I did that, and second place was the best I could have hoped for against some of the talent on show in this race”
Next up for Tamworth AC in the Burton and District League is the Burton 10 mile on Sunday 20th May. The main race will once again be preceded by the Family Fun Run (approximately 2 miles.
