At the earlier Schools Counties Championships athletes from Tamworth Athletic Club qualified for the Mason Trophy Schools Championships in their specialist events representing the counties of either Staffordshire, Warwickshire or West Midlands, depending on the location of their school. The other counties in the competition drew their best athletes from Shropshire, Nottinghamshire, Cheshire, Hereford and Worcester, Greater Manchester, Derbyshire and Northamptonshire. Competition was fierce with only the best of the best winning medals. However our athletes gained valuable experience from the event and of course they had the honour of representing their County.
