The Potters ‘Arf
Ben Evans celebrated ten years of road running, with a return to the Potters ‘Arf, where he made his half marathon debut a decade ago.
The Tamworth AC long-distance athlete, unsurprisingly made a huge improvement on his 2007 performance of 1:44:37, crossing the line this year in 5th place with a time of 1:18:33.
Ben said “I love this race, it’s a brutally challenging course that either brings out the best in you or breaks you; and I’ve experienced both over the years!”
“I’m delighted with everything about my run today. I felt comfortable throughout the race and put in a strong finish to make the top 5.”
“I’m really enjoying the mix of track and road fixtures at the moment whilst I think ahead to the Berlin Marathon in September.”

Leicestershire and Rutland County Schools Championships
Sophie Perry (u15) in the u17 women’s 800m came home in 4th just missing out on the medals.
Charlotte Perry (u15) also missing out on the medals came 4th in the 1500m u17 women’s race
It was reported that the sisters both ran super well and did themselves proud against the older women.
Warwickshire County Schools Championships
Lucy Wheeler won Gold in the U17 Women’s 100m with a time of 12.9secs and she won Silver in the 200m u17 women’s race with a time of 26.8secs
Sian Lewis won Silver in the 800m U15 Women’s race with a SB of 2mins 32.8secs
Katie Stretton in the U15 Women’s 800m race came 6th with a PB time of 2mins 41.5secs
In the U15 Women’s Javelin Amy Cook won Bronze with a throw of 24.25m
James Sherriff won Gold with a PB of 38.8secs in the 300m U15 men’s race
In the 100m Hurdles race for the U17 men Owen Sherriff won Bronze with a SB of 14.8secs and in the 400m Hurdles he won Gold in a time of 58.0secs
Staffordshire County Schools Championships
Alice Mellor won Silver in the 100m U20 women’s race with a time of 13.4secs. Alice took the Gold medal in the 200m u20 women’s race finishing in 27.3secs.

Hannah Evans finished in a time of 31.0secs in the 200m U15 women’s heat but didn’t make the final. In the u15 women’s Discvus Hannah won Bronze with a PB throw of 18.40m
In the 300m u17 women’s race Lauren Swindell came 6th in the final with a time of 47.0secs after finishing in 3rd place in her heat. Lauren took 8th place in the u17 women’s Javelin with a throw of 19.34m
In the 300m u17 women’s heats Eve Clawley finished in 1st place and then went on to the final winning Silver with a PB time of 42.8secs. In the 800m u17 women’s race Eve won Gold with a time of 2mins 25.5 secs crossing the line 0.1secs in front of Cannock and Staffs athlete Iris Davies.

In the 75m Hurdles u15 women’s race Niamh Kilgallen won Silver with a time of 13.2secs. Niamh came 10th in the u15 women’s long jump with a PB jump of 3.84m
Gabrielle Degg in the 75m Hurdles u15m women’s race just missed out on the medals finishing in 4th place with a PB of 14.0secs.
Siân Hubbard won Gold in the u15 women’s Pole Vault with a vault of 2.30m

In the 100m U17 men’s race Daniel Cartwright won Silver in the final with a time of 11.4secs after winning his heat of the 100m. In the 200m U17 men’s race he won the Gold medal in a time of 23.3secs after finishing in 1st place in the heats.

In the 300m u15 men’s race Timothy Li won Gold with a PB time of 39.1 secs after coming 2nd in his heat. Tim won Silver in the u15men’s Long Jump with a PB jump of 5.43m
Andrew Woods in the 400m u17 men’s race won the Bronze medal with a time of 55.5secs after winning his heat.

In the u17 men’s 1500m race Max Kent came home in 10th place in a time of 4mins 46.6secs.
