The Midlands County Championships were held at Pingles in Nuneaton on Sunday. There were several Tamworth AC athletes competing.
The conditions were not good for the athletes with very high winds on the back straight.
The day started with 400mtr hurdles and Isabelle Neville taking bronze in the under 20 ladies race in 64.50 seconds. Kane Densley then competed in the senior men’s 400mtr hurdles and finished with a silver medal in a time of 56.62 seconds.
Thomas Randolph, returning from injury, was running in the under 20 men’s 800mtrs and was just pipped at the post to be left off the podium in 4th in a time of 1min 56.4seconds.
The senior men’s 800mtrs followed this with Luke Jones running a tactical race to come off the final bend sprinting for the line. In a dramatic finish, both Luke and Adam Wright from Rugby ended up diving through the line onto the track. Luke took the silver medal just behind Adam, who was taken away in an ambulance with a broken collar bone.
Laura Langowski ran in the senior ladies 400mtrs and took 2nd place for the silver medal in 58.47seconds. She followed this up with 26.31 seconds in the 200mtrs that got her into the final later in the day. Unfortunately due to Achilles problems, Laura had to pull out of the final.
