The third race in the Burton and District Summer League saw a still depleted Tamworth AC team take on the Burton 10 mile on Sunday.
Veterans Dave Williams and Derek Bolton who raced the Uttoxeter Half Marathon three weeks ago were joined by Ben Evans, returning from a calf injury, and Nigel Fisher making his first BDSL appearance of the year.
Following a week of rain, conditions were good on the day and the challenging two lap course saw more than 300 runners turn out for the main 10-mile event and Family Fun Run.
Ben Evans showed no signs of recent injury problems, as crossing the line as first placed league finisher and fourth overall with a time of 58:29.
Next was Dave Williams, as 4th placed VM50, with a time of 66:26 followed by Derek Bolton with 71:32.
Nigel Fisher completed the Tamworth line-up, coming in with a time of 103:04.
Next up in the BDSL Series will be the Washlands Relays on 14th June, where we hope to see several Tamworth AC teams doing battle over the 2-mile course. If you’re interested in taking part, we are looking to field men, women and mixed teams (U17, Senior and Vets categories) in this friendly and enjoyable event.
