YDL UAG at Telford 30 April 2017

At a very windy and blustery Telford Athletics Track Tamworth AC competed in the first match of the season for the Youth Developement League Upper Age Groups of u17 and u20.  After a series of injurys and with it being a Bank Holiday Tamworth were reliant on just a team of 11 athletes in each age group. They put out the best performances and are now leading the league against other teams from City of Stoke, Telford, Royal Sutton Coldfield, Tipton Harriers, Nuneaton and Harborough and finally Saffron AC.

Tamworth won 28 events on the day.

U17 boys

Dan Cartwright won his 100m and 200m races with times of 11.2secs and 23.1secs  and 3rd in the discus with a throw of 19.67m

Ben Hogan came 2nd in his 100m race with a time of 12.8 secs and 1st in the long jump with 5.47m

Max Kent ran the 1500m and 3000m coming 3rd with 4 min 47.02 secs and then 10mins 35.01 secs followed by throwing a javelin into 2nd place with 14.90m

Owen Sherriff took 2nd place in the 100m hurdles with 15.8secs and 1st  in the 400m hurdles with 57.5secs also getting the qualifying time for English Schools.

The 4 boys then came 2nd in the 4 x 100m relay with 47.3secs.

U17Girls

Lucy Wheeler ran in the 100m and 200m coming 3rd and 1st respectively with times of 13.3 secs and 27.3 secs and then threw a shot into 2nd place with a throw of 8.89m

Omi Dixon took 1st place in her B race with a time 27.6secs in the 200m

Rachel West was 1st in her 300m with a time 46.5secs and then went onto win the high jump with 1.40m

Lauren Swindell won her B race in 300m with a time of 46.6secs and then went onto claim 1st in the long jump with 3.43m and 4th in the javelin with a throw of 20.54m

Eve Clawley ran the 1500m coming 2nd with a time of 5mins 11.06 secs and then went onto help the u20 girls secure points in the 200m with a time of 28.5secs and the long jump coming 4thwith a jump of 3 .11 m

Charlotte Vincent was 2nd in the high jump with 1.35m and 2nd in long jump with 3.94m

Emily Findlater ran 100m hurdles with a time of 16.7secs to come 1st and then went onto the 300m hudles with a 2nd place of 49.2secs. Emily then went on to help the u20 girls in the 400m with a time 64.1secs coming 1st

Charlotte Bush ran the 3000m coming 2nd with a time of 11mins  50.07secs and 2nd in discus with a throw of 11.98m

The 4x100m  relay team of Vincent, Bush, West, and Wheeler then came 3rd with a time of 54.1secs and the 4 x 300m relay team of Bush, Swindell, Clawley and West came 2nd with a time of 3 min 07.7 secs

The U20b started the afternoon off with a win from the 400m hurdles with Daniel James with a time of 67.3 secs he then went on to the long jump coming 2nd with 5.20m and the triple jump coming 1st with 10.75m

Harry Everitt coming back from injury came 1st in his 100m race  with a time of 11.8secs

Tom Randolph took 1st in the 400m with a time of 50.2secs and 2nd in the hammer with a throw of 8.27m

Jake Allman took 1st place in the 400m B race with a time of 51.7secs and 2nd in the 200 with a time 24.1secs

Tom Ainsworth took 1st place in the 100m B race with a time of 11.5 secs and then took 1st place in the 200m with 22.8 secs

The 4x 100m team of James, Allman  Randolph and Ainsworth then took 2nd place with a time of 48.3 even with Ainsworth pulling his hamstring and hopping across the line to score valuable points.

The 4 X 400M team of James, Allman, Sherriff and Randolph then took 1st place with a time of 3 min 48.0 secs.

The U20G started off with a win in the 400m hurdles with Isabelle Neville coming 1st with a time 65.1 secs a new PB she then went onto win the 100m B race with a time 13 secs and came 3rdin the javelin with a throw of 12.38m

Alice Mellor coming back from injury last year having broken her ankle and pulling a hamstring took to the track for the first time with a 100m and 200m coming 5th in both races with times of 14.3secs and 30.2secs

Charlotte Cornbill did both the 800m and 1500m coming 2nd with a time of 2min 58.7 and 1st with a time of 6min 25.06 secs and then 4th in shot with a throw of 4.62m

Hannah Tisdale in her 1st league meeting for the club also ran in the 800m and 1500m coming 1st in the 800m B race with a time of 3 mins 06 secs and 3rd in the1500m A race  with a time of 6 min 19.02 secs

Beth Devonshire came 2nd in the 100m hurdles with a time of 19.7secs  and 400m hurdles  with a time of 74.8secs she then threw a discus 12.63m to come 4th

The 4 x 100m relay team of Cornbill, Neville, Devonshire and Mellor bringing them home with a win of 55secs

The 4 x 400m relay team  of Dixon, Devonshire , Findlater and Neville came 1st with a time of 4 min 28.9 secs

Tamworth AC did well to win this match with so few athletes and now look forward to keeping their lead at the next match to be held at Royal Sutton Coldfield’.s track on the 28th May.
