Tamworth AC were in action again at the Uttoxeter Half Marathon on Sunday, the second round of the Burton and District Summer League. The team was heavily depleted by injuries, holidays and a focus on forthcoming Track & Field fixtures, so it was left to experienced veterans Dave Williams and the ever-present Derek Bolton to take on the particularly challenging half marathon course. Starting and finishing at Uttoxeter Racecourse the race took runners around the countryside with some demanding energy-sapping hills en route.
Despite some strong crosswinds on the day, conditions were good for running and the event saw a decent turnout of 270 runners from around the Midlands.
Dave Williams
Dave Williams was first home for TAC in 46th position overall and 3rd V55 in 1.32.36.
Derek Bolton
Derek Bolton came home in 82nd position overall and 6th V55 in 1.38.22.
The next race in the BDSL series will be the Burton 10 mile on 21st May at which we expect to see some of our absent athletes making their return to action.
