Straight off the back of a solid cross-country season finale last week, Tamworth AC’s Ben Evans was back in action over the weekend at the Village Bakery Wrexham Half Marathon. The race was Ben’s first on road this year and part of his preparation plans for a first Championship start at the London Marathon in April.
Despite struggling with a heavy cold over the previous week, Ben put in a good performance to finish in 23rd place with a time of 1:15:17, just 30 seconds short of his personal best.
After the race Ben said “I’d been looking forward to this one. The strong field and fast course make it a great confidence builder ahead of a spring marathon. All the signs in training had given me hope of a new PB, but with the recent illness I’ve got to be happy with that as something to build on for London.”
Next up for Ben will be the Stafford Half Marathon on Sunday 19th March.
