Tamworth AC had an excellent day in round three of the YDL competition which took place at the Tamworth AC stadium last weekend. Tamworth started in 5th place after the second round but coming 2nd on the day elevated their overall position to 3rd place with one more match to go. However with Royal Sutton Coldfield heading the table with a clear gap to 2nd place Bicester, Tamworth with only a slim lead has everything to do in the final match to keep the remaining teams Dudley and Stourbridge, Banbury, Leamington and Burton from overtaking them. The final match will prove to be one worth watching!
In the Under 15 Boys team the Tamworth lads earned personal bests galore. Max Kent in the 1500m A race had a new best of 4:45.5mins taking 1st place, another 1st in the Javelin gave him a best throw of 16.87m in 4th place and he finished in 1st place in the 300m B race in a time of 42.8secs.
James Walker had a good day with personal bests in the 800m A race coming 4th in a time of 2:29.2mins. In the 100m NS race he also had a best of 14.3secs and in the shot putt he had a putt of 5.7m putting him in 6th place.
James Sherriff in the 1500m B race came 1st with a time of 4:46.9mins, in the 100m B race he came 2nd in 13.6secs and he scored a best in the Javelin A event coming 5th with a throw of 18.71m

Timothy Li was also in good form with bests in the 200m and 300m A races coming 3rd in both races with times of 26secs and 40.9secs respectively. Tim came 4th in the long jump A event with a jump of 4.59m
Daniel Cartwright following his success at the Mason Trophy came 1st in the 100m A race with a time of 11.8secs.

The boys concluded their racing in the team relay. James Sherriff, Dan Cartwright, Max Kent and Timothy Li in the 4 x 100 relay took 1st place with a time of 50.9secs
The Under 15 Girls team also had a great day. Sophie Perry had a personal best in the 300m A race coming 5th in a time of 50.6secs, in the 800m NS race she came 2nd with a time of 2:52.0mins and in the shot putt B event she came 6th with a putt of 4.86m.
Sian Lewis ran a personal best in the 300m A race coming 4th in 46secs and in the 800m A race she came 4th with a time of 2:30.6mins.
Lauren Swindell had a good throw in the Javelin A event with a best of 17.79m, she came 5th. In the Long Jump A she came 7th with a jump of 3.77m and in the high jump she came 5th with a jump of 1.2m.

Hannah Evans was another girl on form with a personal best of 31secs in the 200m B race giving her 3rd place. In the 100m B race she came 4th in 14.7secs.
Lucy Wheeler was dominant in the 100m and 200m A races coming 1st in both with a time of 13secs and 26.7secs respectively.
Katie Stretton was in fine form with two personal bests. In the 800m B race she came 2nd with best time of 2:42.3mins and 2nd in the High Jump B event with a best of 1.15.
Charlotte Perry came 4th in the 1500m A race with a time of 5:36.9mins and she won a personal best in the Long Jump B event coming 7th with a best of 2.68m
Alice Jones made her mark in the Discus Throw A event with a personal best of 15.92m and in the Shot Putt A event she came 4th with a putt of 7.19m. Javelin results to follow

The Under 15 Girls ran two relays. The 4 x 100 team of Lauren Swindell, Charlotte Perry, Sophie Perry and Katie Stretton came 7th in 60.9secs. The second relay proved to be the highlight of the day with Sian Lewis, Hannah Evans, Lucy Wheeler and Katie Stretton making up the team. The first leg gave the Tamworth girls the lead but this was eroded until on the last leg the change-over of the two leading two leading teams was together. Katie Stretton came out of the change-over determined not to come second which gave the spectators the most exciting finish of the day. From the trackside it was impossible to separate the two finishers but the Tamworth team were given first place by the time keepers with a time of 3:11.0mins
The Under 13 Boys team were also on good form.
Oran Au in the 100m A race came 5th in 14.5secs, he came 2nd in the 200m A race with a time of 30secs and he came 4th in the Long Jump B event with a jump of 3.8m
Kian Dickson won the 800m NS race with a time of 2:55.1mins and he came 4th in the Javelin B event with a throw of 10.6m
Kai Buckley had a personal best in the Javelin A event throwing 25.31m to come 1st. In the 100m B race Kai came 5th with a time of 15.7secs and in the 800m A race he came 6th with a time of 3:00.0mins
James Stretton came 2nd in the 200M B race with a personal best of 30.7secs and he narrowly missed a best in the 1500m A race with a first place time of 5:20.2mins. In the Long Jump A event James came 6th with a jump of 3.75m
Daniel Aston picked up two bests in his events. First was in the 1500m B race he came 3rd with a best of 5:50.0mins and he had a best in the High Jump A event with a hump of 1.15m. In the Shot Putt B event Daniel came 3rd with a putt of 4.09m
Caydon Fairburn had a hat trick of personal bests. In the 100m NS his best was 16.3secs. In the 800m B race he came 4th with a best of 2:52.4mins and in the Shot Putt A event he came 6th with a best putt of 4.63m
The 4 x 100 Under 13 Boys relay team of Kian Dickson, Daniel Aston, Kai Buckley and Oran Au came 5th with a time of 61.6secs
The Under 13 Girls team had a string of personal bests. Tegan Vickery ran the 1200m B race in 4:48.7mins coming 5th.
Ruby Spencer had a fabulous Javelin Throw B event coming 1st with a personal best throw of 21.6m.

Niamh Kilgallen ran well in the 150m B race coming 1st in a best time of 23secs. In the 75m flat A race she came 5th with a seasons best of 12.5secs and in the 70m Hurdles A race she came 2nd in 12.1secs.
Isla Crameri came 1st in the 70m hurdles B race with a personal best of 12.5secs and in the Long Jump A event she won another best of 4.13m coming 3rd
Georgina Weal ran in the 800m NS gaining a personal best of 3:02.2mins
Emily Pearce ran in the 75m B race coming 3rd in 13secs and in the 800mA race she also came 3rd in 2:48.0mins.
Ellie Gauntlett took part in the 800m NS race getting a personal best of 2:58.1mins and in the 75m NS race she had a time of 14.6secs
Beth Winstone won a seasons best time in the 800m NS race with a time of 3:00.1mins and in the 75m NS she had a time of 12.1secs. In the Shot Butt B event Beth had a personal best of 4.32m coming 5th.
Amy Cook got close to her personal best beating off the opposition with a throw of 22.98m in the Javelin A. In the Long Jump B event Amy came 2nd with a jump of 3.93m and she had a personal best in the 150m A race coming 4th with a time of 23.1secs

Alice Mason came 3rd in the 800m B race with a time of 2:52.1mins and she came 7th in the Shot Putt A event with a putt of 5.32m.
Abigail Hamer ran into 3rd place in the 1200m A race with a time of 4:10.6mins
Finally the girls 4 x 100 team of Abi Hamer, Sian Hubbard, Emily Pearce and Niamh Kilgallen came 3rd with a time of 61.7secs
