Tamworth AC stars took part in the 2016 Staffordshire Schools Championships at Northwood Stadium, Stoke on Trent. Fortunately the weather held off and the event took place in bright warm conditions. Finishing in 1st or 2nd place qualified these athletes to compete for their county at the Mason Trophy next weekend at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham. There are 3 age groups in County Schools – Junior (U15), Intermediate (U17) and Senior (U20).
In the 100m Junior Boys Final Daniel Cartwright came 2nd in a time of 11.8secs
Max Kent ran in the Junior Boys 1500m finishing in 6th place with a personal best of 4:39.8mins
Andrew Woods in the Intermediate Boys Final took 3rd place in a personal best time of 56.6secs
Tom Randolph took Gold in the 800m Senior race with a time of 2:00.9mins
Eve Clawley also won Gold in the 1500m Junior Girls race in an unchallenged time of 5:03.1mins

Alice Jones came 8th in the Junior Girls Shot Putt with a putt of 7.41m and in the Discus she threw 14.34m to win 13th place.
Rachel West ran in the 100m Intermediate Girls Final coming 5th in 13.5secs and in the 300m final she also came 5th in 45.9secs.
Finally Isabelle Neville took Gold in the 300m Intermediate Girls Final in 42.3secs and Silver in the 300m Hurdles Final in the English Schools qualifying time of 46.2secs.
