The December Cross Country fixture saw both the men’s and women’s teams competing at Coften Park on Saturday the 6th.
The course provided a wet and hilly challenge for our athletes with the women’s race up first at 13:30 and the men’s race an hour later at 14:30.
In the women’s race we had a scoring team of 4 with Rebecca Hobbs first back in 30th place in a time of 30:24. Delivering her second solid performance of the season was Georgia Silion finishing 47th in 31:39. Alysha Nevile was back in the green and white of Tamworth crossing the line in 79th place with a time of 33:37 and capping an excellent team display was Felicity Gray in a time of 44:43 and 205th place.
This leaves our ladies team sitting in 16th place in their league out of 27 teams.
In the men’s race we were witness to a dominant display with the team taking the victory on the day. After a couple of personnel rotations, the team had their scoring 6 within the top 21 putting Tamworth AC into 1st place in the league, taking the top spot from Telford AC.
Individual results are as follows; Jolyeon Leavesley on his XC return came 4th with a debutant Dylan Whittington at his heels in 5th. Max Kent finished in 7th with Peter Hackett in 9th. Robert Dyjak crossed the finishing line in 17th with Dan Wrenn closing out the top 6 scoring spots in 21st. Dug Ladkin achieved 70th place with Howard Bush close behind in 81st. A hard day’s running rounded off by David Brayer and Tom Palmer in 104th and 183rd respectively.
Our Cross Country athletes can rest over the festive season with the next fixture soon after on Saturday the 10th of January.
