Very contrasting weather in Daventry, but still some great performances to finish off the Lower YDL season for Tamworth AC youngsters. A couple of late injuries saw the team numbers drop slightly but we still managed to take 27 athletes for an away fixture, which was excellent.
Overall Tamworth finished 2nd in Division B behind Solihull, and finished the season in 2nd place in the division. It is also worth noting that Solihull picked up an average 10.4 points per athlete attending, compared to 12 points for Tamworth, so we need to keep recruiting more young athletes to get closer to winning the league!
All the results for the athletes will be on Power of 10, along with any England Athletics PB Award levels reached, but a summary of the performances below.

Under 15 Boys

Thomas LadkinA strong day as always for Thomas with 2nd place in the 200m, 2nd place in the high jump with 1.45m, and 2nd place in the shotput. He was an excellent ambassador for the club, assisting others as well as delivering his own results.
Tyler BrownAn amazing start to competition for Tyler who only joined the club a few weeks ago. He finished 3rd in the 100m with a grade 2 performance, 2nd in the B 200m, and then took 3rd place in the long-jump on his first outing. Great work!
Zac EdwardsAs always Zac filled his quota of events without any fuss. He took 2nd place in the B shot-put straight after 3rd place in the 1500m. His first event was an excellent 2nd place and PB in the discus.

Emily StephensEmily continued her good form this year, equalling her PB for 2nd in the 100m, and then smashing her previous PB with a win in the B Long Jump. She anchored home the 4x100m for victory, and then ran a great 3rd leg in the winning 4x300m.

went onto anchor home the 4x300m team.
Lacey BaileyA competitive debut for Lacey who didn’t let anything phase her. An outstanding debut in the 800m to win the division race, followed by 3rd places in the B shot and

Lucy HornbyThanks again to Lucy for doing whatever events I throw at her! 3rd place in a tough 1500m, and she also picked up 3rd place in the shot and 2nd in the B discus, plus leading out the 4x300m team in style.
Sophie GodberGreat work from Sophie for a strong 2nd place in the 75m hurdles, and then a good run as a non-scorer in the 100m. She picked up a PB in the javelin for 3rd place, and then started the 4x100m with a blistering first leg.

William KempAfter a morning of football, William raced over the Daventry and made the most of his day. 4th place in the A high-jump in the worst weather of the day, an excellent 19m throw in the javelin for 2nd place, and a great 800m to win the B string. He was pressganged into the 4x100m and ran a great leg as the team took 2nd place.

Under 13 Girls

Grace Thompson-MooreNot a great timetable for Grace who had the first track event, and the last field event! A strong hurdles performance to equal her PB and take the win, and then a great javelin throw to add 2m to her PB and take 3rd place.
Holly HancockThanks to Holly for coming along to both run her 800m, and also provide support to all the other girls. In a tough race she finished as the 2nd place B runner.

Niamh SpringettGreat to see Niamh in a Tamworth vest and she ran the B string of the 1200m to take 3rd place.
Ollie FrancisA couple of sprints for Ollie at Daventry with a quick non-scoring 75m run, followed by her first run out over 150m to take 2nd place in the B string despite a fall at the line.
Robyn EdwardsRobyn ran a really strong 1200m to take 2nd place, agonisingly just outside her PB but still in a very impressive time.
Rosa FarmerAn outstanding run by Rosa in the 150m today who took a great win and also knocked 0.3s off her PB in the process. The 2nd fastest U13 150m run from a Tamworth athlete in 10 years, and a time that makes her the 3rd fastest 11 year-old in England over 150m this season.
Tilly FarmerLots of activity in the morning for Tilly, followed by an afternoon of supporting. She took a PB and win in the B string hurdles, then came close to a PB in the 800m with 2nd place, and finally won the B string high jump with another PB. Well done!
